This small housing estate is located in southeast Belfast. When was developing the houses were small, basic, prefabricated aluminum bungalows. This gained the estate the nickname “tin town”. The area has turned around with houses from private ownership sprouting due to the increase in population.
Taughmonagh is located between the upper Malone Road and Lisburn Road. The residents that live on the upper Malone Road utilize the various amenities and shops at the Dub stores. Going further towards Lisburn Road, you will find other amenities in the area that include a petrol station, restaurants, and Chinese take-aways.

Taughmonagh has a community group formed in 1996 which supports a family learning center. The Community Resource Center runs a day nursery and operates several inter-community projects that link the neighboring Annadale and Benmore. The Taughmonagh youth club gathers together people between the ages of seven to twenty-five, the youths can then interact with the members of the club.

A small children’s park with a football and basketball area has been recently built with the estate having its social club which also serves meals to the community. It is also used to book for certain events like weddings, birthdays, etc.

Taughmonagh primary school serves the area as the education center. Over 100 pupils attend the school from different religions. There is also the Fleming Fulton School for the physically disabled children. Getting around will require that you board a bus. The 9B/9C Metro bus services this area. The nearest train stations are at Finaghy or Balmoral.

Taughmonagh has a Fold House Trust organization that dedicates all its resources to helping the elderly in the community. This non-profit organization manages some properties in Taughmonagh. This trust organization offers assistance and support that goes further to repair, improve, or help the elderly to adapt homes across Northern Ireland.

Taughmonagh is a small estate with very few social amenities. Bars, restaurants are found in neighboring areas. This area is quiet and the locals are friendly. The roads make it easy to connect to other towns within Belfast.

Going to Stranford Avenue Playing Fields from Balmoral Golf Club will take you 20 minutes if you decide to walk. Head southeast toward Lisburn Rd/A1, and in 322 meters, turn right onto Lisburn Rd/A1. Now, turn right onto Balmoral Ave/A55, and then turn right onto shrewsbury Park. Continue onto Malone Hill Park.

Stangford Avenue Playing Fields to Taughmonagh Enterprise Centre

Driving from the playing fields to the enterprise center, just head southeast on Malone Hill Park toward Dorchester Park. And then, turn right onto Malone Rd/A55. At Malone Roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto Upper Malone Rd/B103. Turn right onto Malton Dr., and then turn left onto Finwood Park.

Taughmonagh Enterprise Centre to Fleming Fulton School

It will take a 7-minute walk to get to your destination. Head east on Finwood Park toward Finwood Ct. Turn right onto Malton Dr., and then turn left. In 43 meters, turn right, and then turn left. In 107 meters, turn left again.

Fleming Fulton School to Gleanveagh School

Head south toward Upper Malone Rd/B103, and then turn left onto Upper Malone Rd/B103, and then turn left onto Harberton Park. It will take you 6 minutes to get to your destination.
