The Ulster Museum is located in Belfast Botanic Gardens in the University area of South Belfast, Northern Ireland. The museum building is a distinct architectural icon in the city. It is part of the popular National Museums in the region which includes the Transport Museum, Ulster American Folk Park, Armagh County Museum, the W5 Science Centre and the Ulster Folk.

The Ulster Museum is popularly known as the Northern Ireland treasure house. This is because it is home to a wide collection of art, natural science and is rich in history. The Museum explores the history of North Ireland people from the past and present day. You get to meet the ancient Egyptian Mummy, dinosaurs, Takabuti and learn more about how she landed in Belfast in the year 1834.

When exploring the state-of-art in the museum, the Armada Room should be a priority. The artefacts here are retrieved from the 1588 wreck of the Spanish galleon Girona. The early peoples Gallery holds the bronze Bann Disk which is a centric design since the iron age. This is a perfect room to take you back in the day and relate the designs to the modern-day work.

Troubles Beyond on the ground floor of the museum is endowed with local history from 1700. Here you will find bomb disposal robots exhibits. On the first floor, there are bronze artefacts and prehistoric stone that showcase context for Ireland’s archaeological sites. These include Malone Hoard, a clutch of polished Neolithic stone axes that were discovered a few kilometres from the museum.

The second floor is a children friendly area. The area covers natural history, geological time and evolution. These include; snapshot of an ancient see floor, petrified driftwood and fossilised portion seabed with ammonite shells which are over 200 million years old.

The very top floors of the Museum are dedicated to the Irish and European art. There are 1100 work pieces ranging from sculptures to fine art. The museum has attained different contemporary British and Irish fine art by Stanley Spencer and Sickert Steer. The museum demonstrates history and revolution that have happened in architecture. It offers people an opportunity to experience and appreciate the importance of architecture and more in Belfast.
